With 20 paylines spread across five reels, Halloween Jack Slots is a spook-filled adventure from the team at New Entertainment.
Considering the name, it isn’t surprising to see that this title features a scary visual design, with the high-value symbols comprised of bats, ravens, horseshoes, horses and a vampire woman, which is the most valuable in the game. The lower value icons are shown in the standard playing card format, A, K, Q, J and 10, but stylised to fit the theme.
There is a wild, shown as a pumpkin, which will do the usual job of substituting for all other symbols, bar the scatter, to form wins. It will also tie into one of the bonus features, which comes alongside a free spins mode and Jack O Lantern bonus.
Every holiday seems to have an accompanying selection of games; whether it’s Christmas or Easter, you won’t be short on options. However, there is one seasonal event that occurs on October 31st that doesn’t get the same kind of attention from developers.
Luckily though, NetEnt are on hand to rectify that, with Halloween Jack slots. It’s equal parts scary and fun to play, with a brilliant set of features that could provide a tasty payout, if you’re fortunate. Before we look at those though, we should check out the user interface first.
NetEnt has done a wonderful job with the graphics here, making a truly gothic looking title. The interface is genuinely quite creepy, with plenty of little touches that add up to create an authentically Halloween experience. Take the lower value playing card symbols for example. Generally in slot games, there isn’t much done with these visually and they often look bland in comparison to the rest of the board. Here though, they are enveloped in skeletal arms and rendered in horror styled font. This means they look perfectly in place for this kind of theme.
Whenever the Halloween pumpkin icon lands on the board, it will substitute for all others apart from the scatter and jackpot symbols. It will land on all reels except the first and, if it does fall in a winning combination, a 3x multiplier will be applied to the total and the Walking Wild bonus will trigger.
This will award a re-spin, and any wilds on the board will move one reel to the left. The game will continue to re-spin, with wilds moving left each time, until no more are in play. You can trigger this in both the free spins round and base game.
To trigger this bonus, you’ll have to land at least three of the scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. You will initially receive ten spins, though landing three or more treasure chest icons will increase the number of the spins to fifteen. There isn’t much else to this round, but when combined with the potential 3x multiplier and Walking Wilds, it offers the chance of it being quite rewarding.
This feature is triggered by landing the Jack ‘O’ Lantern, which will only fall on the fifth reel. Activating it will provide one of three wild-based bonuses, depending on how many landed, which are as follows:
This can provide some pretty big payouts, especially if you manage to get the maximum of nine. We really like the fact all the bonuses work with each other. On their own, they don’t seem the best, but put together they can work well in your favour.
Are you ready for a spot of trick or treating? If so, you can play Halloween Jack slots on Kerching. Don’t worry if the visuals here a little too creepy for you, we have plenty of other options to choose from.
